Genitourinary Medicine Fellow

The department of urology is seeking a family medicine or internal medicine residency graduate to join the University of Utah Division of Urology for a one-year genitourinary medicine fellowship. The position is designed to train the physician in urologic medicine with an emphasis on general urology. The fellow would be trained in general urology and many of the other subspecialties of urology to give a working knowledge in the field of urologic medicine. This is a unique opportunity to continue training in a wonderful working environment with experts in the field of urology.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  1. Board eligible or board certified in family medicine or internal medicine

  2. Current or able to obtain unrestricted Utah State Medical License

Responsibilties:

Essential functions: Under supervision of a Urologist of Genitourinary medicine specialist.

  1. Assist attending in clinical and surgical duties as directed in a full scope of both medical and surgical urology with an emphasis on clinic procedures and function.

  2. It is expected that the fellow should become comfortable enough to run a supervised full patient continuity urology clinic.

  3. Reviews lab/imaging results as part of attending's practice with appropriate mentorship and determines follow-up care as clinically indicated.

  4. Maintain medical records and patient charting to university standards with concern for patient integrity and quality assurance standards related to documentation per practice and attending standards.

  5. Participates in didactics with urologic residents and gives several grand round presentations throughout the year.

  6. Weekly call responsibilities will be assigned as well as consults on the floor and ED during certain rotations.

This fellowship position is designed for one year in duration. Salary will consistent with PGY 4 or PGY 5 level depending upon prior training.
