Job Summary:
Staff geologist for an oil and gas company. Main tasks are to provide geological support to the drilling operations and prospect new oil and gas opportunities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Analysis of subsurface geology through various sources of data
- Subsurface mapping of geologic formations showing structural setting, thickness, porosity, etc.
- Geosteering of horizontal wells
- Management and updating of well databases
- Provide geological support to the Operations Team
- Actively prospect oil and gas plays
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Background in petrophysical, well-base, and seismic software packages.
Education and Experience:
Master and/or Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology or related Geosciences discipline.
Experience as a well-site geologist to coordinate well loggers, mudloggers, and other data acquisition services preferred.
Experience with horizontal drilling and shale plays.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
