This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health (OMH), Waccamaw Mental Health Center - Georgetown Clinic,525 Lafayette Circle, Georgetown, SC 29440.

As the Georgetown Clinic Support Staff, under general supervision, you will perform a variety of routine administrative duties/ clinical support with a moderate level of individual and patient accountability in the Georgetown Front Office or Waccamaw Center for Mental Health. Exercises good judgement in the application of established offices and procedures

Responsibilities for the Georgetown Clinic Support Staff:

  • Responsible for all front office operations including phone, scheduling appointments for clinicians and Doctors, scanning and importing documents into the Avatar. Act as primary cashier, act as back-up with posting payments and weekly bank deposits. Complete all intake procedures for data entry in Avatar, gather and verify all third-party billing information. Research and obtain any information needed in the computer data base to ensure correct and timely billing services.

  • Assist with intake procedures for data entry in Avatar, gathers and verifies all third-party billing information. Process closures and changes utilizing accepted

procedures. Reviews and responds to medical records request as appropriate. Assure all outside record request have been documented and logged in accurately.

  • Print out staffing schedule on a daily basis for the doctors. Verify the cash daily, making sure that it is locked up at the end of every day, and covers late night once month after hours for crisis.

  • Maintains documentation of charts and other records according to State, federal local, BHDD-OMH, WCMH, Quality Assurance, Corporate Compliance and CARF.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • A high school diploma and two (2) years of clerical experience; or an associate degree in secretarial science or other related field; or 3 years of clerical experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of HIPPA and 42 CFR part 2 regulations, ensures that all medical records requests are handled efficiently and in a timely manner.

  • Walking, sitting, standing and lifting light items.

  • Must have a valid drivers license and provide a 10-year driving record to operate a state vehicle.

  • Hear at normal volumes, stand, walk, reach, pull, stoop, bend, ability to lift 40 pounds and climb two (2) flights of stairs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Post hire, employees must:

  • Be able to complete Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) certification.

  • Have general knowledge of office practices and use of office equipment.

  • Have the ability to communicate effectively.

  • Be flexible, cooperative, have the ability to perform multiple tasks.

  • Manage time in a proficient and effective manner in the course of carrying out day to day duties.
