HOW HIRING: Specialty Design Engineer – Geotechnical / Structural (Helical Pile Systems)

Location: New England (Hybrid / Office-Based Role)
Position: Full Time
 

Opportunity

We are partnering with a well-established and highly respected geotechnical specialty contractor to identify a Design Engineer to join their design and project delivery team. 

This organization is known for its technical depth, fast-paced project environment, and strong collaboration between engineering, estimating, and field operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and analysis of geotechnical and structural systems including helical piles, ductile iron piles (DIP), micropiles, and grouting applications.
  • Design support of excavation systems such as sheet pile walls, soldier pile and lagging, secant walls, soil nailing, and tieback systems.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and construction drawings for a variety of foundation and shoring projects.
  • Participate in projects from initial feasibility and preliminary design through final design, submittal, and construction support.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, estimators, and field teams to develop practical, constructible engineering solutions.
  • Provide technical input during estimating, bid preparation, and value engineering discussions.
  • Support project execution through submittals, RFIs, design revisions, and quality control documentation.
  • Work across multiple active projects in various stages of design and construction.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering required.
  • Master’s degree and/or PE license preferred.
  • 0–3+ years of experience in geotechnical or structural design (strong recent graduates encouraged to apply).
  • Strong understanding of soil mechanics, geotechnical engineering, and structural fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
  • Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD and geotechnical/structural tools (e.g., LPILE, PLAXIS, or similar) preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
