The Geriatrician serves as the primary physician for geriatric patients, as well as others, across various clinical settings within our organization. This role involves close collaboration with a diverse clinical care team, which includes specialty consultants, nurse practitioners, therapists, nursing staff, and additional healthcare providers. Additionally, this position may encompass teaching duties associated with the Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at a prominent medical school, where our organization acts as a key clinical training site.

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct medical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatments for long-term chronic care patients, including post-acute care inpatients and outpatients.
Prescribe medications and treatment plans tailored to assessed medical conditions, demonstrating knowledge of relevant pharmaceuticals and non-pharmaceutical aids, along with proper dosage instructions for patients.
Refer patients to specialists and other necessary components of patient care as needed.
Oversee and coordinate the patient care activities of clinical team members and support staff as required.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to address each patient’s unique needs.
Participate in overnight, weekend, and holiday on-call duties as appropriate for the practice area.
Document each patient interaction promptly (typically on the same day) using the designated electronic medical record system.
Complete documentation in a timely manner to facilitate charge submissions by the off-site billing company.
Adhere to established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, and quality improvement standards, including safety and infection control measures.
Meet productivity benchmarks set by the Department of Medicine Administration.
Engage in health promotion, education, and preventative programs throughout the organization as appropriate.
Train and supervise medical students, residents, and fellows involved in specialty activities and procedures as necessary.
Contribute to quality improvement and review activities within the medical staff.
Attend weekly Medical Staff Meetings.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: MD or DO degree with a residency in internal medicine or family practice (minimum of 3 years). Completion of an ACGME accredited geriatric medicine fellowship program is preferred.
License: A valid and unrestricted Massachusetts Medical License.
Certification: Current American Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine, renewed as necessary before expiration.
Preferred: ABIM added certification in geriatric medicine.
Federal DEA Certification required.
CPR, BLS, and ACLS certifications as required by the specific practice location.
Experience in training and/or practice caring for seniors in long-term chronic care, community, or home settings.
Experience providing effective medical care in an inpatient environment.
Ability to uphold quality, safety, and infection control standards.
Familiarity with community medical diagnostic and patient care services relevant to the area of expertise.
Experience working both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Knowledge of current principles, methods, and procedures for delivering medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment in the area of expertise.
Capability to supervise, mentor, and train clinical professionals and/or students in the field.

Salary Range: $197,901.00 - $279,389.00
