## Budget & Financial Analyst
### Overview:
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Vice President -- Business & Finance, the Budget & Financial Analyst is responsible for all aspects of the budget process, responding to data analysis requests, and upkeep of budget and report writer tools. This position will require expert business knowledge with a comprehensive understanding of the organization and functional area, and the ability to conduct complex, important work under minimal supervision and with wide latitude for independent judgment.

### Primary Responsibilities:
Budgeting
• Creates, updates, and maintains financial models and detailed forecasts.
• Provides assistance and advice to budget managers regarding the preparation of organizational and departmental budgets.
• Analyzes department budgeting and accounting reports to maintain expenditure controls.
• Consolidates departmental budgets into operating and capital budget summaries.
• Prepares internal budget reports for executive leadership.
• Prepares cash projections.
• Compares historical results against budgets and forecasts and performs variance analysis to explain differences in performance.
• Forecasts budgets for various scenarios, incorporating modeling to pinpoint risk factors and functional areas.
• Collaborates with all departments to ensure forecasts consider all data, variables, and expertise.
• Ensures that all duties and responsibilities are performed in a safe manner.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
### Data Analysis
• Responsible for corporate data requests.
• Responsible for the maintenance of the report writer tools.
### Technology Growth
• Researches and implements new technologies to improve departmental efficiencies.
• Conducts regular health checks on the budgeting system to ensure functionalities available are being utilized to the fullest extent.
### Required Skills & Abilities:
• Open to learning and living the MxV Rail values (Momentum, Insight, Teamwork, Rigor, Purpose) in all facets of the organization's work.
• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field and/or relevant experience.
• Experience in corporate and/or project budgeting and budgeting software systems.
• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles regarding revenue and cost reporting.
• Proficient in data analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in basic office and accounting software programs.
• Collaboration and teamwork skills.
