Position Summary:
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Provider, this position acts as an assist during endoscopic procedures and reprocessing per regulatory standards. Prepares procedure rooms for use and cleans the rooms and equipment after use.
Assists with maintaining an efficient technical operation in the Endoscopy Unit with the goal of optimal patient care during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. Demonstrates appropriate clinical practice and promotes patient advocacy.
This role performs in a high activity work environment with multiple priorities and necessitates flexibility in scheduling.
This is an entry level position with an expectation that colleagues will be promoted into the Patient Care Tech 2 job once becoming proficient in the skills needed to perform the required responsibilities - This position must obtain 10 hours of continuing education within 1 year per regulatory requirements.
Position Responsibilities:
Key Areas of Responsibility
o Checks the integrity of supplies and equipment needed for the endoscopic procedure and ensures that equipment is in proper working order.
o Uses proper techniques in all phases of the procedure and at all times.
o Sets up equipment and supplies and maintains organization throughout the procedure.
o Maintains carts and equipment in clean working condition and stores in appropriate area when completed
o Assists with the positioning of patients
