SUPERVISES:            Gift Planning Coordinator TBD based on conversations

FUNCTION:               

This position serves the Southwest Ohio Northeast Kentucky Division and is part of The Salvation Army’s Eastern Territory Gift Planning (GP) Program. The Gift Planning Program is one of The Salvation Army’s leading revenue streams that provides significant financial resources to The Salvation Army Eastern Territory (TSAE) and the SWONEKY Division. Planned gifts fund current mission, capital needs, and long-term sustainability. As part of a team of highly skilled, trustworthy, values-based professionals, the Gift Planning Director for SWONEKY works with prospects and donors to discuss their plans and help them use their resources in ways that will fulfill their personal missions and do the most good for the most vulnerable in the world. The Director of Gift Planning cultivates, promotes, and closes charitable gift plans to meet or exceed the goals set annually by the SWONEKY Divisional Commander in collaboration with the Territorial Community Relations and Development Department (TCRD) and Divisional Director of Advancement.

 

This position works within the established structure and organization of the Salvation Army’s Eastern Territory, reporting to the SWONEKY Divisional Director of Advancement (DDOA) with a dotted-line relationship with the Territorial Director of Gift Planning (TDGP) to ensure program quality, adherence to Territorial minutes (policies), and participate in training and educational programs.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Commitment to the mission and values of The Salvation Army.
  • Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Human Services, Finance, or Accounting. Master’s in business preferred.

 

SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • CAP, CFP and/or gift planning credential preferred with relevant work experience in planned gifts.
  • Knowledge of donor motivations and Gift Planning methods and vehicles in relation to overall resource development programs, campaigns, and efforts.
  • Demonstrated record of cultivating and closing large gifts.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Project management or supervisory experience.
  • Valid driver’s license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements.
  • Strong affinity for the ministry of The Salvation Army.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Usual office conditions apply.  Individuals must be willing to work additional hours as required. Position has both internal contacts within the organization and external contacts within the community, which require considerable tact, courtesy, and diplomacy.  The utmost integrity is required to safeguard confidential proprietary information of the organization.  Routine driving/travel in all weather and visibility conditions as needed.
