This role requires flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends. The assignment will begin in early November 2026 and continue through January 2027. Candidates should be available to work approximately 25–30 hours per week.Job SummaryThe Gift Shop Clerk is responsible for delivering excellent customer service to guests visiting the Shrine Gift Shop or calling the store. Key responsibilities include:Customer service - Greets and assists customers with a pleasant, welcoming demeanor. While this is not a high‑pressure sales role, strong customer service and product familiarity for suggestive upselling are essential.Point‑of‑sale operations - Accurately enters sale data and processes cash, checks, credit cards, and gift card transactions.Store upkeep - Maintains a clean, dust‑free, well‑organized sales floor and merchandise displays.Stocking and inventory - Stocks shelves and displays after merchandise is processed by stock room personnel; assists with processing as needed.Back‑stock management - Retrieves merchandise from the stock room and ensures items are available on the selling floor.Stock room organization - Helps maintain a safe, orderly stock room environment.Loss prevention - Remains attentive to customer activity, helps control merchandise loss, and reports any security concerns to the supervisor.Qualification RequirementsAbility to operate an adding machine/calculator.Computer and keyboarding experience.Ability to accurately count cash back to customers.Demonstrated Christian hospitality in all interactions.Clear, pleasant communication skills and a friendly, professional demeanor.Good grooming, personal hygiene, and a consistently positive presentation.Quick thinking, articulate, and adaptable to immediate needs.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand and move easily throughout the sales floor for the duration of the shift.Shifts may be 4, 6, or 8 hours depending on staffing needs.
