Girls Basketball Assistant Coach

Job Summary

Hamilton High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our coaching staff as a Girls Basketball Assistant Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the sport and committed to fostering a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes. This seasonal position will involve working closely with the head coach to develop players' skills, promote teamwork, and uphold the values of our athletic program.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily practice sessions, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Support the head coach in developing game strategies and preparing the team for competitions.
• Provide instruction and guidance to student-athletes on individual and team techniques, including offensive and defensive strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate player performance during practices and games, providing constructive feedback to enhance skills and teamwork.
• Foster a positive and inclusive team culture, encouraging sportsmanship and respect among players.
• Assist in organizing and coordinating team events, including games, tournaments, and community outreach activities.
• Communicate effectively with players and school administration regarding team expectations, schedules, and player progress.
• Ensure compliance with all school, district, and state athletic policies and regulations.
• Attend all practices, games, and team meetings as required.
• Promote the overall mission and values of Hamilton High School athletics.

Requirements

• Previous experience in coaching basketball at the high school level or equivalent experience as a player.
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the head coach, other coaching staff, and school personnel.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• First Aid/CPR certification is preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held.
• Must pass a background check and adhere to all school district policies regarding student safety and welfare.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends during the basketball season.
• A commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
• Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check per School Board policy.
