Danbury High School is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic Girls Varsity Head Soccer Coach for the upcoming fall season. The successful candidate will lead and develop a competitive varsity soccer program while fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and academic excellence among student-athletes.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and conduct all varsity soccer practices and competitions.
- Develop and implement offensive and defensive strategies, training plans, and player development programs.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and student-centered team culture.
- Ensure compliance with district policies, CIAC regulations, and all athletic department expectations.
- Collaborate with sub-varsity coaches to promote continuity throughout the girls soccer program.
- Monitor student-athlete academic progress and encourage personal responsibility.
- Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents/guardians, school staff, and the athletic department.
- Supervise assistant coaches and support staff.
- Maintain equipment, uniforms, and inventory.
- Attend required coaches' meetings, professional development, and preseason/postseason events.
Qualifications
- Previous soccer coaching experience at the high school, collegiate, or equivalent level preferred.
- Strong knowledge of soccer fundamentals, player development, and game strategy.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to fostering a safe, positive, and inclusive athletic environment.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required during the season.
Required Certifications
- Current Connecticut Coaching Permit (or ability to obtain prior to the season).
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
- Successful completion of all CIAC and district-required coaching certifications and trainings.
- Successful completion of all required background checks and district hiring requirements.
