Girls Wrestling Coach

Position Title: Varsity Girls Wrestling Head Coach

Location: Highland High School - Ault, CO

Season: Winter

Reports To: Athletic Director

Position Summary: Highland High School is seeking a passionate and motivated Girls Wrestling Coach to lead and develop our girls wrestling program. The ideal candidate will foster athletic growth, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship while creating a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes.

Duties:

  • Plan and lead practices, conditioning sessions, and competitions
  • Teach wrestling fundamentals, techniques, and match strategy
  • Promote athlete development, leadership, and academic success
  • Ensure safety standards and proper supervision at all times
  • Coordinate with athletic staff, parents, and school administration
  • Support recruitment and growth of the girls wrestling program
  • Maintain equipment and comply with league/state regulations

Requirements:

  • Wrestling coaching and/or competitive wrestling experience preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Must meet district/background check requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coaching female athletes
  • Knowledge of high school wrestling rules and tournament operations.

Salary and Benefits: The salary for this position is 10% of base teacher salary ($5000 per season), as well as enrollment in a PERA retirement plan and unemployment insurance. Candidates who have previously coached wrestling for Weld Re-9 are eligible for $150 per year as an experience factor. Coaching at other districts or schools does not count towards the experience factor.
