Client: U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) – California Great Basin Region

Work Location: U.S. Bureau of Reclamation; 2800 Cottage Way, Sacramento, California 95825

Reporting Hours: 8am - 5pm, Pacific Standard Time

Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a DOI Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential and successfully complete a National Agency Check (NAC).

Travel: Occasional travel within California and the western United States to support project meetings, training, field activities, and collaboration with Bureau of Reclamation stakeholders.

 

Geocgi is seeking a GIS Production Specialist to support the Bureau of Reclamation's California Great Basin Region Enterprise GIS (BORGIS) program. This role focuses on producing high-quality geospatial products, maintaining enterprise geospatial data, supporting mapping requests, and assisting technical teams in delivering GIS solutions that support water resource management, engineering, environmental stewardship, emergency management, and land management programs.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with spatial data, producing accurate cartographic products, and supporting enterprise GIS operations in a collaborative, mission-focused environment. This position has a primary location of performance onsite, Monday through Friday at the office of U.S. Bureau of Reclamation; 2800 Cottage Way, Sacramento, California 95825

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce high-quality maps, figures, exhibits, and cartographic products supporting engineering, environmental, scientific, and operational programs.
  • Perform GIS data editing, attribution, quality assurance, and quality control activities using enterprise geodatabases.
  • Create and maintain spatial datasets in accordance with Bureau of Reclamation GIS standards and established workflows.
  • Support enterprise GIS production requests utilizing ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and ArcGIS Online.
  • Prepare data for publication through web maps, hosted feature services, dashboards, and other enterprise GIS applications.
  • Support data collection, conversion, migration, and integration activities across multiple geospatial data sources.
  • Perform spatial analysis and geoprocessing to support project deliverables and customer requirements.
  • Assist with GPS data processing, imagery management, and field data integration when required.
  • Maintain metadata and documentation supporting enterprise GIS data management standards.
  • Collaborate with GIS Specialists, engineers, scientists, and project managers to deliver timely and accurate geospatial products.
  • Support production schedules while managing multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Assist with technical documentation and standard operating procedures supporting GIS production workflows.

The following are requirements of the GIS Production Specialist:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOI PIV credentials and successfully complete required background investigations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Environmental Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Equivalent professional experience may be considered.
  • 3+ years of professional GIS experience supporting mapping, spatial analysis, or enterprise GIS production.
  • Experience utilizing ArcGIS Pro to create maps, perform editing, and conduct spatial analysis.
  • Experience working with enterprise geodatabases and spatial data management.
  • Experience creating cartographic products suitable for technical reports, engineering projects, and decision support.
  • Experience performing data quality assurance and quality control.
  • Knowledge of coordinate systems, projections, topology, and geospatial data standards.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative project team.

The following are preferred of the GIS Production Specialist:

  • Experience supporting the Bureau of Reclamation, Department of the Interior, or other federal agencies.
  • Experience publishing web maps and hosted services using ArcGIS Enterprise or ArcGIS Online.
  • Experience utilizing ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123, QuickCapture, or Collector.
  • Experience with Python, ModelBuilder, or GIS workflow automation.
  • Experience working with engineering, hydrology, environmental, or water resource datasets.
  • Completion of recent Esri technical training related to ArcGIS Pro, Cartography, Geodatabase Management, or Spatial Analyst.
  • GISP certification or Esri Technical Certification.

The annual base salary range for this position is anticipated to be $85,000 $105,000 USD. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position.
