Performs professional, technical, and administrative work coordinating Geographic Information System (GIS) projects, maintaining spatial data, developing maps and applications, supporting GIS technology, and facilitating the use of geographic information throughout the City.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
An employee in this class is responsible for coordinating the development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of the City’s Geographic Information System and related projects. Work includes coordinating GIS projects across departments; supporting field data collection; assisting with system integrations; and providing technical assistance and training to GIS users. Employee works collaboratively with City departments, consultants, contractors, utility providers, governmental agencies, and other stakeholders to identify operational needs and develop GIS-based solutions that improve data accessibility, infrastructure management, service delivery, planning, and organizational decision-making. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Planning Director and is evaluated through conferences, project outcomes, system performance, data accuracy, customer service, and the effectiveness and quality of work performed.
