GIS Software Application Engineer

Job Summary

Are you interested in improving and shaping the IT industry? We are seeking a Software Application Engineer who is motivated by variety, seeks a challenging environment for professional growth, and is interested in supporting an Investor-Owned Utility client headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana. This is a long-term customer engagement where we have supported all areas of IT operations for over 20 years. The successful candidate will work with our team to support the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of GIS applications in both project and support capacities.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with client customers and project teams to provide world-class software development services for multiple utility company applications.
• Utilize common GIS software, including:
  • Interaction with map features and efficient use of core functions.
  • ESRI Field Maps, ESRI Experience Builder, ESRI Portal, ArcGISOnline.
  • Extend core functions by creating new modules and custom tools or extensions.
  • Understand spatial data modeling, including creation and manipulation of features, updating RWO Objects, and applying to the database.
  • Build custom GIS applications via ArcGIS Engine or Runtime.
  • Query, report, and extract spatial data.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, GIS, or related field. A high school diploma with additional work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• 4 years of related experience.
• ESRI experience required.
• Experience with Oracle and SQL Server.
• Ability to perform in a complex multi-tasking and multi-customer work environment.
• Capable of working within limited time restraints and strict deadlines.
• Able to perform duties without immediate supervision.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Desired Skills

• Experience with GE Smallworld and FME Workbench.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Magik, Python, C#, and Java.
• Ability to support multiple projects.
• Highly motivated and able to solve highly technical and complex problems.
