Job Duties
What you'll do -
Portfolio management (donor cultivation)
Manage a portfolio of mid-level donors and prospects in The 1607 Society (typically $2,500–$9,999 annually), with a focus on retention and gift upgrades.
Develop personalized cultivation strategies to deepen engagement and grow giving.
Identify and qualify new donor prospects through gift levels, event participation, board referrals, and other prospecting methods.
Partner with the Director of Membership and Annual Giving to move higher-capacity prospects to the Major Gifts Team.
Meet defined goals for one-to-one and one-to-many donor interactions — calls, meetings, emails, and event invitations.
Donor stewardship
Steward donors through regular calls, emails, and personalized correspondence that recognize and thank them for their support.
Design and carry out strategies to upgrade donors to higher tiers within The 1607 Society.
Align messaging and campaigns for mid-level donors alongside the Director of Membership and Annual Giving.
Represent the Foundation at events and support 1607 Society programs.
Draft and produce The 1607 Society quarterly e-newsletter.
Corporate membership program
Manage the full corporate membership lifecycle of identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and renewal, tracking pipeline, revenue, and engagement in the donor database.
Serve as liaison for corporate membership inquiries and represent the Foundation at community business events.
Reporting and support
Record donor activity, call reports, and meeting notes in Raiser's Edge promptly and accurately.
Track progress toward revenue and upgrade goals and help prepare reports for leadership.
Support other departmental needs as they arise.
Minimum Qualifications
• Fundraising experience and knowledge of fundraising practices
• Demonstrated skills relating to donor recruitment and stewardship
• Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising database usage
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Either possess or rapidly acquire knowledge of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation and its programs
• Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of staff and management
• Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Additional Considerations
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
• Previous experience in a museum or higher education fundraising environment preferred
• Experience with a fundraising database preferred
