This position plays an important role in supporting cost savings, supplier performance, and risk mitigation-ultimately contributing to operational efficiency and BorgWarner's competitive advantage in the global marketplace.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Planning

  • Manage a defined portfolio of procurement commodities (e.g. software, SaaS, IT services, HR services) aligned with global sourcing objectives.

  • Support the development and execution of multi-year commodity strategies and supplier portfolios in partnership with internal stakeholders.

  • Apply BorgWarner's LA/GS model (Local Accountability / Global Strength) to help deliver competitive advantage and value.

Sourcing and Negotiation

  • Support strategic sourcing of assigned commodities: assist with specification design, RFx development, supplier response coordination, and quote/TCO analysis.

  • Participate in pricing and commercial term negotiations; assist in contract development and implementation.

  • Gather and analyze information on cost drivers, market dynamics, innovation areas, and alternative suppliers to support decision making.

  • Contribute to sub-commodity strategy development and cost optimization efforts in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

  • Assist in resolving supplier issues post-award and support escalation processes.

Supplier Performance and Management

  • Collaborate with stakeholders on supplier evaluations, performance reviews, and issue resolution.

  • Support relationships with key global suppliers; participate in strategic reviews to align objectives and identify opportunities.

  • Track value delivery and support cost effectiveness within scope.

  • Help maintain supplier strategies and dashboards reflecting performance, competitiveness, and strategic fit.

  • Use benchmarking and analytics to identify trends and risks; assist in managing contracts, SLAs, and compliance activities.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Engage stakeholders by understanding their needs and concerns, and support communication of business information and decisions.

  • Align procurement activities with business objectives by collaborating with cross-functional teams.

  • Participate in workshops and strategy sessions to identify cost-saving opportunities, mitigate risks, and promote innovation.

  • Translate stakeholder priorities into actionable procurement plans and support change management efforts.

Risk Management

  • Support compliance efforts related to contractual obligations, SLAs, and regulatory requirements.

  • Assist in identifying supplier risks and integrating findings into sourcing strategies.

  • Contribute to risk mitigation planning, including dual sourcing and supplier diversification.

  • Collaborate with Legal to support inclusion of risk protections in contracts.

  • Monitor market trends and disruptions to help adjust procurement strategies.

  • Participate in supplier reviews and site visits to assess performance and risk.

  • Help embed risk considerations into supplier selection and management processes.

Leadership and Mentoring

  • Act as a resource to stakeholders by sharing market intelligence and supplier insights.

  • Communicate GSM strategy and action plans in alignment with organizational goals.

  • Support cross-functional sourcing teams to ensure alignment across procurement, engineering, and finance.

  • Share best practices in negotiations, contract management, and market analysis with peers.

  • Promote ethical sourcing and compliance through active participation in procurement processes.

What we are looking for

  • 8+ years of experience in Procurement supporting corporate or business unit functions within a global organization.

  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritize multiple projects in a dynamic environment.

  • Strong collaborator and team player who thrives in fast-paced, high-demand settings.

  • Willingness and flexibility to travel as required.

  • High ethical standards and integrity in supplier relationships and decision-making.

  • Demonstrated success in supporting cost savings, supplier performance, and sourcing objectives.

  • Solid business acumen with the ability to evaluate market dynamics and supplier capabilities.

  • Skilled at working across functions and engaging stakeholders at various levels.

  • Effective conflict resolution skills and ability to support constructive dispute management.

  • Highly organized and analytical, with a detail-oriented and proactive mindset.
