Job Summary

The Global Education Student Program Assistant supports the daily operation of the GCSU Global Education Center and contributes to the administration of Georgia Colleges Global Education portfolio, including education abroad, study away, exchange programs, internships, directed research, and other Global Good initiatives. The program student assistant provides administrative, operational, and student support that helps ensure the effective delivery of Global Education programs. The program student assistant works collaboratively with the Centers professional staff, Global Education Ambassadors, faculty program directors, and student participants to maintain a welcoming, efficient, and student-centered office environment.

Responsibilities

Student Services and Information Sessions (35%)

The program student assistant welcomes visitors to the Global Education Center and conducts regularly scheduled information sessions for students interested in Global Education opportunities. The program student assistant introduces prospective participants to the Centers portfolio of programs, explains application procedures and participation requirements, responds to routine questions, and connects students with professional staff for individualized advising when appropriate. Through knowledgeable, courteous, and responsive service, the program assistant helps create a positive and informative experience for prospective students, families, faculty, and visitors.

Program Support (30%)

The program student assistant supports the planning and administration of Global Education programs and activities, helping ensure that administrative processes are completed accurately and efficiently. Responsibilities include preparing program materials, assisting with orientations and special events, supporting application and documentation workflows, maintaining program records, and helping ensure that routine operational processes are completed in accordance with established procedures. The program assistant contributes to the effective administration of the Global Education Center throughout the academic year.

Communication and Office Support (15%)

The program student assistant assists with routine communications and office operations by preparing correspondence, maintaining informational materials, supporting front-office activities, and assisting with recruitment events and other Center programs. The program student assistant works collaboratively with professional staff, the Communications Assistant, and Global Education Ambassadors to ensure that students receive accurate information and that office operations are carried out efficiently and professionally.

Administrative Coordination (15%)

The program student assistant performs assigned administrative and operational tasks that support the daily work of the Global Education Center. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, assisting with scheduling, preparing materials, monitoring assigned projects, greeting visitors, answering routine inquiries, and providing general office support. The program student assistant demonstrates sound organizational skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to maintain confidentiality when appropriate.

Other (5%)

The program student assistant performs additional duties in support of the mission and operations of the Global Education Center. The program student assistant contributes to a collaborative, welcoming, and student-centered office environment.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Enrollment as an undergraduate student at Georgia College in good academic standing.

Other Required Qualifications

No prior professional experience is required. Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and the ability to communicate effectively through coursework, campus involvement, volunteer service, or previous employment are expected.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications

No specific major required. Completion of at least one semester at Georgia College is preferred.

Preferred Experience

Experience providing customer service, serving in a student leadership role, working in an office environment, or participating in a Georgia College Global Education program is desirable.

Proposed Salary

$10.00 / hour

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE

Basic knowledge of a university environment and an understanding of professionalism and customer service in a student-services setting.

SKILLS

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to complete routine administrative tasks accurately and efficiently.

ABILITIES

Ability to work responsibly both independently and as part of a team, provide professional customer service, manage multiple assignments, maintain confidentiality, and represent the Global Education Center positively in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
