Summary:
The Global Logistics Manager oversees the company's central freight program and drives efficient, cost‑effective, and compliant global shipping operations. This role manages carrier relationships, enforces the use of contracted suppliers, and leads global cost‑optimization initiatives through data analysis, rate negotiation, and performance monitoring. The manager ensures adherence to international trade regulations, maintains clear shipping standards and controls, and partners closely with Global Trade Compliance. They also support employees worldwide with shipping guidance, training materials, and issue resolution while continuously improving processes. Strong analytical skills, international shipping expertise, and experience with freight carriers and compliance are essential, with BI tools and Lean/Six Sigma knowledge preferred.
Responsibilities:
• Global Freight Program Management:
o Manage the global freight program, ensuring adherence to company-wide contracts and maximizing the utilization of contracted suppliers.
o Drive global adoption of preferred shipping programs and ensure employees worldwide utilize contracted suppliers.
o Serve as the primary point of contact for global freight-related inquiries, providing support and guidance to client's employees.
o Develop and maintain strong relationships with freight carriers.
• Cost Management and Optimization:
o Analyze global shipping spend data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for cost savings and automation.
o Develop and implement strategies to optimize shipping costs and increase the utilization of contracted rates globally.
o Own vendor relationships and strategy.
o Monitor carrier performance and negotiate rates and service level agreements to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
o Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to shipping costs, service levels, and program effectiveness.
• Governance and Compliance:
o Collaborate with the Global Trade Compliance team to ensure all international shipments comply with customs regulations, import/export laws, and trade compliance requirements.
o Develop and maintain clear standards, guidelines, processes, and documentation for international shipping to minimize the risk of customs penalties, tax issues, and other compliance violations.
o Implement controls and audits to ensure all shipping expenses are valid business expenses and adhere to company policies.
o Stay informed about changes in global trade regulations and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.
• Employee Experience and Support:
o Provide expert guidance and support to employees globally on all shipping-related matters, including import/export procedures, customs requirements, and best practices.
o Develop and maintain user-friendly resources, training materials, and documentation to educate employees on proper shipping procedures and the use of contracted suppliers.
o Troubleshoot shipping issues, resolve escalated matters, and work with carriers to ensure timely resolution of problems.
o Identify and implement process improvements to streamline shipping operations and enhance the employee experience.
• Data Analysis and Reporting:
o Collect, analyze, and interpret shipping data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
o Develop and maintain regular reports on shipping spend, compliance metrics, carrier performance, and program effectiveness for management review.
o Utilize data analysis to drive informed decision-making, identify areas for optimization, and support recommendations for program enhancements.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or transportation, with a focus on package freight.
• Strong understanding of international shipping regulations, customs procedures, import/export laws, and global trade compliance.
• Experience managing relationships with freight carriers, such as FedEx and others, and negotiating rates and service level agreements.
• Strong business process analysis skills with proven experiences in continuous improvement and automation.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights.
• Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels and across diverse cultures.
• Ability to develop and document processes, procedures, and workflows clearly and concisely.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with business intelligence (BI) tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
• Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
