Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor"s degree in a technical or engineering field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management.
  • Experience with capital equipment, manufacturing equipment or asset tracking.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master"s degree or MBA in a technical or engineering field.
  • 5 years of experience in procurement, supplier management, or sourcing.
  • Experience managing contract manufacturing partners for printed circuit board assemblies and systems, including the development and management of cost models.
  • Experience working for a global contract manufacturer, original equipment manufacturer (OEM), or hyperscale company.
  • Experience with supplier management in the compute, storage, networking or data center infrastructure space.
  • Experience with new product development environments (e.g., schedule, cost, urgency, etc.).

Commodity Managers work with Engineering teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. As a Commodity Manager, you use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure. The scale at which Google operates means that savings on just one piece of hardware can have a huge impact on Google"s bottom line.

From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google"s product portfolio possible. We"re proud to be our engineers" engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

$132000 - $190000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + bonus + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Develop category sourcing strategies in a given product vertical.
  • Define cost drivers, develop cost models and establish should cost analysis.
  • Lead request for proposal (RFP), agreement negotiations, and the supplier selection process.
  • Understand the technical roadmap and industry trends that impact long-term needs.
  • Manage supplier relationships and performance in alignment with technology, cost, quality, and delivery drivers.
