    Description

    Responsibilities

    Global Sourcing & Supplier Strategy

    • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for battery cells (pouch, cylindrical, prismatic) and pack-level components, including structural, thermal, and electromechanical subassemblies.
    • Work with a cross-functional team to identify, qualify, and onboard cell and pack suppliers
    • Lead RFX, cost modeling, and supplier negotiations across global regions, covering all commercial aspects of the supply chain.
    • Drive supplier footprint decisions aligned with cost, capacity, and geopolitical risk
    • Market Intelligence: Stay ahead of industry trends from raw material to technology roadmap and competitive intelligence

    Cost, Tooling & Scalability

    • Own should-cost models for cells and packs, driving costs down through design collaboration, process optimization, and commercial negotiations.
    • Define tooling strategies, capacity investments, and ramp plans with suppliers.
    • Balance prototype speed with production scalability without burning bridges or budgets.

    NPI & Engineering Partnership

    • Support NPI from early design through mass production, managing prototypes for test assembly, functionality, and performance validation.
    • Partner with engineering teams to influence DFX and reduce cost and lead time at both the cell and pack level.
    • Source and manage prototype, pilot, and production suppliers while meeting aggressive timelines.

    Supplier Performance & Risk Management

    • Own supplier performance across quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness.
    • Lead capacity planning, dual-sourcing, and risk mitigation for long-lead and critical battery components.
    • Resolve supply disruptions decisively and prevent repeats.

    Cross-Functional Leadership

    • Act as the supply chain owner for battery cell and pack systems.
    • Communicate sourcing strategies, risks, and tradeoffs clearly to technical and executive teams.
    • Operate with urgency, data, and accountability in a fast-moving environment.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifcations:

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
    • Experience with batteries at both the pack level and cell level (pouch, cylindrical, prismatic)
    • 5+ years of experience in supply chain development, or sourcing management
    • Strong understanding of NPI support and scaling production in hardware-focused companies, through mass production.
    • Skilled at establishing strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
    • Able and willing to travel internationally and domestically approximately 25% of the time.

    Bonus Qualifications:

    • Experience in robotics, EV, automotive, or high-volume electromechanical/battery products.
    • Engineering degree
    • Previous work at a startup or on a very lean team
    • Comfortable working directly with drawings, BOMs, and cost breakdowns.
