Job Description:

Title: Global Supply PlannerDepartment: Supply Chain – Global Supply PlanningReports to: Manager, Supply Chain – Global Supply PlanningLocation: United States (Fremont, CA) – role supports domestic and global suppliers and may require periodic travel

Position Overview / Role Purpose

The Global Supply Planner is a fully qualified, experienced professional and senior individual contributor who owns supplier allocation planning, supply continuity, and supplier performance across key suppliers and product families supporting Nextpower’s large-scale solar project execution. The role applies advanced, wide-ranging supply-planning expertise to complex issues involving demand forecasts, supplier capacity, pricing agreements, contractual commitments, lead times, material readiness, and operational delivery requirements. The role independently determines methods and procedures for new assignments, identifies and evaluates variable supply risks, develops mitigation and recovery strategies, and advises cross-functional and supplier stakeholders on tradeoffs that affect revenue, customer commitments, cost, service, and project execution. The Global Supply Planner partners with Sourcing, Engineering, Regional Delivery, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Project Operations to strengthen end-to-end visibility from purchase order through delivery and to drive tactical business targets without formal people-management responsibility.

Key Objectives

Own Complex Supply Allocation and Continuity

Lead allocation planning and secure supply commitments using demand, capacity, pricing, contractual volume, lead-time, and project-priority inputs.

Drive Supplier Performance and Accountability

Improve OTS performance, establish supplier accountability, and lead cross-functional reviews and corrective actions.

Resolve Complex Supply Risk and Protect Project Execution

Identify gaps early, evaluate tradeoffs, and execute mitigation and recovery plans that protect revenue, schedules, and customer commitments.

Advance Planning Systems, Visibility, and Scalable Practices

Use MRP, Anaplan, Oracle, Excel, and Power BI to improve planning accuracy, end-to-end visibility, inventory health, and decision quality.

Scope & Impact

The Global Supply Planner independently owns supply planning execution for assigned suppliers and product families across domestic and global supply networks. Assignments routinely require in-depth evaluation of variable demand, capacity, pricing, contractual, lead-time, inventory, logistics, supplier-performance, and project-priority factors. Work is reviewed primarily upon completion for consistency with departmental objectives. Success is measured through supply continuity, OTS performance, material readiness, inventory health, business-risk reduction, project execution, and the ability to advise and influence stakeholders without formal authority.

Core Responsibilities

Supply Planning & Allocation

  • Lead supplier allocation planning based on demand forecasts, supplier capacity, pricing agreements, contractual volume commitments, lead times, and project priorities.

  • Secure supply commitments aligned with forecasted demand and sourcing strategies; balance availability with revenue and customer commitments.

  • Monitor material readiness and communicate tradeoffs to ensure alignment with production and project schedules.

Supply Risk Management & Continuity

  • Identify supply gaps early through proactive analysis of forecast, capacity, lead-time, inventory, and supplier constraints.

  • Develop and execute mitigation and recovery plans; align owners, decision makers, and escalation paths to protect project timelines.

  • Support supplier ramp-ups, capacity expansions, production readiness, and long-term supply agreements with Sourcing.

Supplier Performance Management

  • Drive supplier On-Time Shipment (OTS) performance with Regional Delivery and Logistics.

  • Lead supplier performance reviews, establish accountability, and drive corrective action and continuous improvement.

  • Standardize supplier-management processes to improve visibility and execution discipline; serve as the primary cross-functional point of contact for supply-related execution issues.

Planning Systems & Process Excellence

  • Leverage MRP and advanced planning tools, including Anaplan, Oracle, Excel, and Power BI, to manage supply signals and improve planning accuracy.

  • Enhance end-to-end visibility from purchase order through delivery to improve transparency and decision-making.

  • Improve inventory health by reducing excess, obsolete, and aging material; develop scalable planning processes, tools, dashboards, and reporting standards.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Influence

  • Partner with Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Logistics, Regional Delivery, and Project Operations.

  • Align supply plans with product launches, engineering changes, supplier readiness, and project execution requirements.

  • Adapt communication to technical, operational, financial, supplier, and leadership audiences; communicate risks, tradeoffs, and recovery actions clearly and persuasively.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related discipline plus 8+ years of related experience in supply planning, master scheduling, manufacturing, supplier management, or supply chain leadership; or a Master's degree plus 6+ years; or a PhD plus 3+ years; or equivalent experience.

  • Advanced, wide-ranging experience with supply planning principles, including forecasting, MRP logic, capacity planning, supplier allocation, lead-time management, and material readiness.

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as Oracle, advanced planning tools such as Anaplan, and analytical tools such as Excel and Power BI.

  • Demonstrated experience managing supplier performance, OTS, supply continuity, risk mitigation, and recovery initiatives in a global, fast-paced environment.

  • Experience in solar, electronics, semiconductor, steel, automotive, heavy equipment, or comparable industries preferred. APICS certification preferred.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills, with the ability to advise and persuade cross-functional and supplier stakeholders without direct authority.

  • Ability to travel periodically and work effectively across regions, cultures, and time zones.

Skills & Competencies

  • Complex problem solving and analytical judgment: evaluates variable factors, tests scenarios, identifies root causes, and selects or adapts methods to obtain results.

  • Independent execution: determines methods and procedures for new assignments, operates effectively with limited information, and escalates at critical points.

  • Strategic and operational thinking: balances cost, service, capacity, inventory, risk, and project priorities to deliver tactical business outcomes.

  • Cross-disciplinary collaboration and influence: builds networks beyond the immediate function, adapts communication style, advises others on complex matters, and persuades stakeholders.

  • Execution and ownership: proactively identifies risk, mobilizes recovery actions, standardizes processes, and drives measurable improvement without formal people-management responsibility.
