Working directly with the Department of Defense, Hermeus delivers capabilities that will ensure that our nation, and our allies, maintain an asymmetric advantage over any and all potential adversaries.The Navigation and System Integration GNC Engineer will be responsible for integration, testing, validation and verification of Navigation instrumentation and GNSS components and supporting the navigation SW suite and development efforts (including filtering and fusion) on advanced guidance, navigation and control systems for our aircraft, as needed.ResponsibilitiesActively support and take participation in all Navigation, GNSS, INS/IMU, Localization, Fusion, System integration effortsActively support Navigation/GNSS/Localization modeling & integration needs for high-fidelity simulation platformConduct simulation studies to assess the performance of the Navigation suite in aircraft and optimize its designCommunicate and collaborate very closely with cross-functional teams on Navigation model integration, sub-system integration and Nav. Suite simulation testing/verification capabilities.Running and conducting Monte Carlo simulations (with Navigation emphasis), as well as SITL, HITLS, regression testing and test coverage scenarios.Design and develop navigation, sensor fusion and/or blending algorithms for our aircraft using advanced techniques and toolsDevelop and implement different filtering techniques/algorithms and strategies to ensure safe and efficient flight instrumentation + operationsConduct flight testing to validate and refine the performance of the aircraft's Navigation systemsCollaborate with other engineering teams to ensure that the aircraft meets safety, performance and efficiency standards from Navigation suite perspectiveParticipate in the development of system-level requirements and specificationsPrepare technical reports, presentations and documentation related to Navigation and instrumentation activitiesBasic RequirementsBachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing, or related engineering field.1+ years of experience in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical or related Engineering fieldStrong understanding of Navigation, GNSS, INS/IMU systems as well as filtering, fusion and Navigation sensor suitePreferred QualificationsExperience with Navigation sensor trade studies, selection process, sensor models, Nav. sub-systems, Nav. SW system integration, fusion/blending algorithms and strategies.Experience and practical experience with filtering techniques (including KF, UKF, EKF, Particle filters, etc).Familiarity and experience with Navigation needs for autonomous flight systems and autonomyProficiency in MATLAB, Python, familiarity with Julia, and other modeling and simulation toolsExperience with Navigation sensor testing and data analysis.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skillsStrong communication and teamwork skillsPassion for aviation and the development of advanced aircraft technologies$105,750 - $156,750 a yearSalary is only one part of our total compensation and benefits package.
