Golang Engineer

The Opportunity: We are looking for an experienced Golang Engineer to join a software engineering team responsible for building, enhancing, and supporting high-performance backend applications and services.

The ideal candidate will develop scalable solutions in Go, work with Cassandra for distributed data management, and build reliable RESTful APIs. The engineer will also collaborate with existing Java-based applications, contribute to modern software development practices, and leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and services using Go.
• Build efficient, scalable, and maintainable solutions using Go-based frameworks, libraries, and development tools.
• Analyze existing Java applications and contribute to troubleshooting, enhancements, and integration activities when required.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs supporting business applications and downstream services.
• Design backend components with a focus on scalability, reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Work extensively with Cassandra to support distributed data storage and retrieval requirements.
• Develop appropriate Cassandra data models based on application access patterns and business requirements.
• Create and optimize database queries to achieve efficient application performance.
• Integrate backend services with Cassandra and ensure reliable data persistence and retrieval.
• Apply software engineering principles such as modular design, reusable components, clean coding practices, and appropriate design patterns.
• Develop automated unit and integration tests to improve application quality and reduce regression risks.
• Investigate production and development issues, identify root causes, and implement effective technical solutions.
• Participate in peer code reviews and provide constructive feedback on implementation quality and engineering standards.
• Collaborate with developers, architects, QA engineers, and other technical stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Contribute to technical documentation, development standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Utilize AI-assisted development platforms such as GitHub Copilot to accelerate coding, troubleshooting, testing, and development activities.
• Evaluate AI-generated code carefully and ensure that resulting implementations meet established quality, security, and maintainability standards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
• 6+ years of professional experience in software development with significant hands-on experience in Go (Golang).
• Strong command of Go programming concepts, standard libraries, frameworks, and commonly used development practices.
• Practical experience developing production-grade applications and backend services using Golang.
• Working knowledge of Java with the ability to navigate, understand, troubleshoot, and modify existing Java applications when necessary.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Cassandra, including data modeling, query development, and integration with backend applications.
• Strong experience creating and supporting REST-based APIs and distributed backend services.
• Understanding of API design principles, request/response handling, service integration, and backend communication patterns.
• Strong foundation in software development concepts, including object-oriented and modular design, design patterns, exception/error handling, and code quality.
• Experience writing automated tests and performing debugging and root-cause analysis.
• Familiarity with source control systems and collaborative development workflows.
• Experience participating in code reviews and working within established engineering standards.
• Ability to work effectively with existing applications and understand unfamiliar codebases.
• Familiarity with AI-powered development assistants, particularly GitHub Copilot, and practical experience incorporating such tools into software development activities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with distributed systems and highly available backend architectures.
• Knowledge of Cassandra performance optimization, partition strategies, replication, consistency models, and cluster-oriented application design.
• Experience migrating, modernizing, or integrating Java-based applications with Go services.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and service-oriented backend development.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and automated software delivery practices.
• Knowledge of containerized application environments and cloud-based deployment platforms.
• Familiarity with observability practices, including application logging, metrics, tracing, and production monitoring.
• Experience working in Agile or other iterative software development environments.
• Exposure to additional AI-assisted programming and developer productivity tools.
• Understanding of secure software development practices and common backend application security considerations.
