Golf Superintendent

Salt Fork Lodge is seeking an experienced Golf Superintendent to oversee the maintenance and integrity of our golf course grounds located in Kimbolton, OH. This role requires a hands-on leader who can effectively manage staff and ensure exceptional course conditions for daily play and tournaments. The Golf Superintendent will directly supervise the Assistant Superintendent, Golf Course Grounds Crew, and Golf Mechanic, working closely with the General Manager and other departments.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:- Valid driver’s license required with clean MVR- Ability to withstand outside summer temperatures and work with chemicals, solvents, detergents, cleaners, fumes, smoke, gases- Ability to communicate effectively with Golf Professional, staff, ODNR and management- Must have knowledge of budgeting and expense management- Must have the ability to hire and develop a motivated golf maintenance staff- Ability to repeatedly bend/stoop, frequently push/pull, and occasionally squat, reach above shoulder level, kneel  and balance- Must be able to frequently carry and lift up to 50 lbs.- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time- High degree of familiarity with and ability to use landscape and golf maintenance equipment- Must be able to be on riding mower equipment for up to eight (8) hours per day- Possess sufficient mobility to perform assigned tasks within production and service time frames established by the company- Excellent written and oral communication skills- Must be highly organized, efficient and detail oriented- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, wipe, push, and pull- Must have computer skills – Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Through the training process and current experience, the following skills and abilities are required to successfully perform this job.- Plans, schedules and directs all golf maintenance activities on a daily basis- Assists the General Manager in preparing and monitoring the annual golf maintenance budget- Maintains the appearance and safety of the course by diagnosing and reporting agronomic issues- Manages irrigation system adjustments and scheduling- Maintains a wide variety of turf grasses in accordance with local climate conditions- Manages course preparations for tournaments and daily play- Operates various hand and power tools as needed to accomplish mowing, edging and cultivation as needed- Integrates environmental programs specializing in IPM (Integrated Pest Management)- Oversees maintenance of golf maintenance equipment- Assists in the coordination, scheduling and supervision of capital improvement projects- Directs maintenance operations in accordance with contract specifications (employees involved in maintaining  greens, fairways, tees, sand traps, bodies of water, rough, maintenance shop and golf carts) by recruiting, selecting, training, scheduling, evaluating, supervising and correcting when necessary- Performs administrative functions by maintaining maintenance records and developing required maintenance  reports - Tracks maintenance expenses including payroll, supplies, fertilizer, chemicals, fuel logs, etc. - Ensures a clean and orderly maintenance facility at all times - Orders supplies and parts to ensure efficient and effective cost purchases in the best interest of the equipment and    Company - Oversees the seeding, fertilizing, top dressing, soil conditioning, watering and the pest and weed control of the golf course. - Finds and implements professional resolution to problems and complaints as they occur. - Communicates with the GM on a daily basis regarding operational developments of concern. - Approves all weekly time sheets /payroll, purchase orders, and invoices. Update time & attendance sheets as needed. - Participates in property meetings and employee functions as required. - Performs other duties as assigned.
