General Statement of Duties
Great opportunity to work outdoors with the Tanglewood Golf Maintenance staff.
Daily tasks include but not limited to: golf course set up, wilt watching greens, operating aeration equipment, tree cutting and other general golf maintenance work. Alos, operating a variety of small equipment and tractors.
Work schedule: Monday through Friday and shared weekends (every other weekend).
May - September: 6:00 - 2:30 pm
October - April: 6:30 am - 3:00 pm
Distinguishing Features
A successful candidate should have:
Considerable knowledge of standard golf course maintenance practices;
Ability to operate and maintain a variety of reel-type mowers and other golf grounds maintenance equipment;
Ability to operate tractors, loaders, backhoes, mowers and other large equipment;
Ability to diagnose wilt, disease and insect damage;
Ability to perform a variety of skilled golf course maintenance duties; and
Knowledge of safe and efficient use of all types of golf course equipment.
Minimum Education and Experience
Graduation from high school or GED and two years of experience in golf course maintenance.
A valid drivers license is required.
Pesticide license must be obtained within one year of employment.
Prefer Associate degree in turf management or related field.
A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement.
Must have demonstrated ability to safely operate motorized mowing and landscape.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Monitors golf course greens for stresses, including wilt, disease and insect damage;
Sets up golf course for daily play;
Mows fairways and adjusts equipment for precise cut, as necessary;
Performs backlapping of reels and adjusts height of cut;
Acts as lead worker in fertilizing of greens;
Operates backhoe and assists in felling trees;
Assists in installation of irrigation systems;
Top-dresses greens and tees; seeding and over-seeding;
Operates large variety of mowers and large equipment; and
Performs general golf maintenance tasks as needed.
