Job Description:

What is the primary mission of this role?

o GPNTS is the Navy's next generation, real time GPS based data fusion and distribution system for surface platforms. It integrates inputs from multiple navigation sensors to produce a dependable and accurate blended navigation solution for Fleet operators. In this role, you will contribute to the development and sustainment of mission critical software that delivers reliable PNT data to U.S. Navy surface ships.

What are the main functions of this role?

In this role, you will contribute to the development, testing, and installation of mission critical software components. This is an onsite role that offers strong mentorship, structured learning opportunities, and exposure to Agile development, DevSecOps processes, and CI/CD workflows.

o Develop and enhance software features under guidance from senior engineers

o Assist with debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving software issues

o Contribute to automated tests and participate in CI/CD-driven build and integration processes

o Support software design tasks, including documentation and interface definition

o Work within an Agile team, participating in standups, sprint reviews, and planning activities

o Follow secure coding practices and support DevSecOps aligned workflows

o Collaborate across systems, hardware, and test engineering teams

o Maintain documentation for reviews, audits, and configuration management

Required Skill Sets:

o Foundational knowledge in one or more programming languages (C, C++, Python, or Java) o Understanding of software development fundamentals, debugging, and version control o Familiarity with Linux environments or basic command line operations o Exposure to Agile development through coursework, internships, or projects

Desired Skill Sets:

o Hands on project experience involving embedded systems, networking, or real time software o Experience with CI/CD concepts or tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar o Exposure to DevSecOps concepts or secure coding practices o Familiarity with automated testing frameworks o Experience with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence o Strong communication and teamwork skills, especially in multidisciplinary engineering environments

This position requires onsite work and active engagement in cross discipline collaboration while supporting Agile software development cycles, DevSecOps practices, and CI/CD driven integration activities.

o Develop, debug, and enhance software features for GPNTS tactical and support systems

o Participate in software design, including interface definitions and architectural discussions

o Investigate and resolve complex system-level issues involving software, networking, and sensor data

o Create and maintain automated tests, and support continuous integration pipelines

o Collaborate with systems engineering to verify requirements and ensure traceability

o Work within an Agile team, contributing to sprints, backlog refinement, and technical reviews

o Support DevSecOps processes including secure coding practices, automated builds, and continuous delivery

o Maintain technical documentation and participate in configuration/change management workflows

Required Skill Sets:

o Proficiency in one or more languages such as C, C++, Python, or Java o Experience with Linux development, debugging tools, and version control systems o Familiarity with Agile development practices and working within iterative development teams

Desired Skill Sets:
