Job Description

The Graduate Admissions Counselor - Early Engagement focuses on building early relationships with prospective graduate students through proactive outreach and communication. This role is responsible for informing, engaging, and encouraging future applicants by delivering high-quality information through virtual and in-person methods. While this position does not have extensive travel or a set recruitment territory, this position may be called upon to do limited travel for select college fairs, recruitment events in the fall, and yield events in the spring and summer.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: Employment duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Conduct extensive personal outreach to prospective students through phone calls, emails, text messages, and virtual engagement (Teams, Google and/or Zoom meetings).
  • Lead engaging group presentations, individual meetings, and campus tours for prospective students and their families.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for early-stage prospective graduate students, providing personalized guidance about Stetson's graduate academic programs, academic and campus life, career services, graduate student support and the admissions process.
  • Actively manage a pool of pre-enrollment students to foster strong interest and move them toward application submission.
  • Utilize the university's CRM (Technolutions Slate) to document interactions, track communication efforts, and ensure timely and personalized follow-up.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Graduate Admissions, Program Directors/Department Chair and others to support campaigns and content for pre-enrollment outreach.
  • Cultivate relationships with College Career Services staff, community-based organizations, alumni, and other key stakeholders.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge about Stetson University's graduate academic offerings, student services, financial aid resources, and campus culture.
  • Maintain an active presence at university events, serving as an ambassador for the Enrollment Management and University Marketing division.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the university's enrollment goals.
  • Must be able to work varied hours in multiple settings (welcome center, school graduate office) regular hours, evenings, and weekends as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The Early Engagement Recruiterwill need:

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to develop and execute social media strategies that support enrollment goals, utilizing analytics to optimize outreach and drive engagement with prospective graduate applicants
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment, independently and with a team.
  • Comfortable with public speaking, group presentations, and one-on-one interactions.
  • Proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to connect with diverse audiences.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications: The ideal candidate's qualifications for this role include:

  • Graduate degree in a related field.
  • Experience in admissions, recruitment, sales, marketing, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with the college admissions process and higher education landscape.

Work Environment:

The Enrollment Management division is in an open-aired work environment with about 20-30 employees working at the same time. Noise level can be high at times, during meetings, and calls. Office space is inside, but Admissions events, and some travel require work to be done outside. This is an on-site position on the DeLand campus, where being in the office to assist families and team members is necessary.

Reports to: This position reports to the Director of Graduate Admissions with close collaboration of Academic Program Chairs and others in Academic Affairs.
