Position: Second Grade Teacher
Location: Madison Elementary School
Employment Term: 200 Days
Classification: Professional / Certified
Salary: Based upon the Boone County Schools salary schedule, commensurate with education and experience.
Qualifications
- Hold or be eligible to hold a valid West Virginia Professional Teaching Certificate appropriate for the position.
- Meet all certification requirements established by the West Virginia Department of Education for teaching at the elementary level.
- Demonstrate knowledge of West Virginia College- and Career-Readiness Standards and developmentally appropriate elementary instructional practices.
- Demonstrate the ability to provide effective instruction in reading/language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.
- Demonstrate effective classroom management, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to use student achievement data to plan instruction, differentiate learning, and provide appropriate interventions and enrichment.
- Meet all requirements established by West Virginia law, West Virginia Board of Education policy, and Boone County Board of Education policy.
Responsibilities
The successful applicant will:
- Plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned with West Virginia College- and Career-Readiness Standards.
- Provide a safe, structured, engaging, and supportive learning environment for second-grade students.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the academic and developmental needs of all students.
- Assess student learning and use assessment data to guide instruction and monitor student progress.
- Provide differentiated instruction, intervention, and enrichment based on individual student needs.
- Participate in the school's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS/WVTSS) process and collaborate with staff to address academic, behavioral, and attendance needs.
- Maintain accurate student records and communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, support personnel, and families to support student achievement.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, committees, and other school-related activities as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal and/or Superintendent.

Selection shall be made in accordance with applicable provisions of West Virginia Code §18A-4-7a, West Virginia Board of Education policy, and Boone County Board of Education policy.
