The fourth-grade teacher is the school''s primary agent for instruction, responsible for effectively presenting the curriculum and employing various developmentally appropriate learning strategies to meet students'' needs and interests. The fourth-grade teacher works under the supervision of the Principal. Based on the results of an annual performance evaluation, the Principal determines consideration for continued employment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding of the subject matter.
Responsible for English Language Arts instruction for fifth and sixth grade.
Responsible for all curriculum subject areas except math in fifth grade.
Develop and provide standards-based lessons utilizing the school''s elementary curricula.
Use informal and formal assessment methods to measure student learning, growth, and understanding.
Analyze data to develop differentiated and enhanced learning experiences and improve future instruction.
Utilize instructional practices that reflect high expectations regarding content and quality of effort and work, engage all students, and are personalized to accommodate diverse learning styles, needs, interests, and readiness levels.
Create and maintain a safe and collaborative learning environment that motivates students to take academic risks, challenge themselves, and claim ownership of their learning.
Collaborate with families to create and implement strategies for supporting student learning and development at home and school.
Promote positive community relations through effective, two-way communication.
Demonstrate the capacity to reflect on the effectiveness of lessons, units, and interactions with students, and use insights gained to improve practice and student learning.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues on a wide range of tasks.
Participate actively in IEP, 504, and Child Study meetings
Participate in professional development opportunities.
Participate in school-wide decision-making and actively participate in school improvement planning.
Share the responsibility for the performance of all students within the school.

Perform all other duties assigned by the Principal, within contractual guidelines.
