Duties
- Measure student progress to encourage the mastery of school district/state/national standards.
- Celebrate individual and collective accomplishments by teaching the importance of self-improvement.
- Promote teamwork and positive social behaviors.
- Create age-appropriate and engaging PE lessons aligned with state standards.
- Cultivate student awareness and ownership of personal performance
- Encourage teamwork to set collective and personal development goals
- Ensure accommodations and modifications are made for the growth and development of all students
- Teach proper techniques for various activities and adapt lessons to different abilities.
- Ensure the physical education environment is clean, safe, and constructive for all students.
- Teach knowledge and skills in physical fitness, rhythms and dance, health education, and individual, dual, and team sports.
- Monitor student progress and assess motor skills development
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere
- Work with other teachers to integrate physical activity into the school day.
- Communicate with parents regarding student progress and participation.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and participation.
- Participate in IEP and 504 meetings as requested.
Qualifications
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with an endorsement in physical education for the grade level.
Salary/Benefits
- Salary placement schedule: Up to 20 years of experience, including out-of-state and private schools, is granted. Any raises are factored into placement salary after year 1. Placement Matrix for 26-27
- Board-paid TRS
- $780 board contribution toward health insurance
- 14 sick days, three personal days
- Children can attend Maroa-Forsyth Schools even if they live outside the district, as long as the parent or guardian is a full-time employee.
