General Description of the Position
The Graduate Admission recruiter supports learning by recruiting and assisting graduate students throughout the enrollment process. This position is responsible for generating new student inquiries, guiding students through the application process, and assisting with registration.
Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The following are the functions essential to performing this job:
- Serves as a member of the graduate recruitment team.
- Responsible for recruiting graduate students for programs offered through the Office of Graduate Studies.
- Researches and provides accurate information about academic and transfer policies, admission procedures, and degree programs, including academic requirements.
- Collaborates with other departments as necessary to define pathways for admission.
- Interviews and counsel students through the admission process including reviewing credentials, facilitating appointments with appropriate staff, faculty and university departments.
- Manages all aspects of the admission funnel, including judgments on admission status.
- Ensures admitted students complete the enrollment and financial aid process through to matriculation.
- Manages all outside recruiting events and travel based on past data and trends.
- Assists with planning, coordination and execution of open houses and information sessions for graduate students.
- Actively recommends and executes strategies for recruitment and retention of graduate students.
- Contributes and collaborates with departmental staff and other university departments in creation of recruiting and marketing materials.
- Represents Delaware State University in the most positive manner with prospective, former and current students, clients, suppliers and the community we serve. Interacts effectively with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students and other customers of our service, learns and uses operating practices of the department and Delaware State University.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The candidate must possess the following skills and abilities to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations:
- Ability to analyze and synthesize relevant policies and procedures and apply them accordingly.
- Ability to prioritize workload and develop internal procedures, review and assign work to others, and conduct training in admissions processes as needed. Must be able to collect and analyze data and generate reports.
- Must be able to independently interpret policies and procedures within delegated authority in the student services arena. Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills as well as display familiarity with FERPA and Delaware State Laws.
- Knowledge of and experience in accounting and budgetary procedures.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency/expertise in Microsoft Office Suite including applications of Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Publisher. In addition, the incumbent must display proficiency in BANNER SIS and Business Processes. Enterprise Content Management Workflow processes.
- Must possess the ability to effectively assess the work of students or staff as well as short range accomplishments of the unit.
Qualification Standards
The incumbent must have a Bachelors degree (Masters preferred) in Business or Public Administration, Education, Information Science, or Information Technology with a minimum of five years relevant experience in a higher education student services setting evidence of increasing responsibility. Proficiency with BANNER (Financial and SIS) and ECM software and processes is also required. Experience in the following areas is also preferred: academic advising, coordination of student training programs, coordination/manager of grant awards, implementation of student and/or faculty workshops, orientations, conferences, and recruitment activities.
