Position Information

Title Graduate Assistant - CSE Marketing and Graphic Design Position Description

The Graduate Assistant (GA) will work 20 hours per week and receive up to 24 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 9 for fall, 9 for spring and 6 for summer.

Overview

The Center for Student Engagement is seeking a full time Graduate Assistants to support the creation and management of marketing content including the design of graphics and marketing materials, including photography and media. This Graduate Assistant position supports the College of Graduate Studies by ensuring graduate students will have relevant work experience that will be critical to their post graduate careers, such as project management, collaboration, the opportunity to gain supervisory experience with student employees, and to serve as a key staff member of a student-centered environment. In addition, the Graduate Assistant will contribute to the impact CSE continues to have on the retention of undergraduate students at Bridgewater State University through the direct interactions with said students, and by the very nature of their work.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the supervision of the student marketing team, this includes assisting in the recruiting, hiring, training, evaluating and the day-to-day supervision of projects, work logs and marketing campaign management.
  • Coordinate a department marketing calendar including a digital posting scheduling and tangible content distribution through the various marketing locations in the Rondileau Student Union and across campus
  • Create and update content messages regarding department-managed communication platforms and programming.
  • Seek out specific campus partner communication regarding all campus events, programs, and services to include in the marketing calendar.
  • Maintain an archive of department and campus related photos and media
  • Update and maintain a department brand guide for all content creation and department print and media presence.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of outreach strategies that target new and returning family members of BSU students and special student populations including communication plans that promote the awareness of programs, events, and resources.
  • Educate and enforce University/CSE policies/procedures in relation to student organization leaders
  • Provide day of event support for events such as The Crimson Experience, Homecoming, Admitted Student Days, and other Programs and Events throughout the academic year when not conflicting with class schedule, including nights and weekends.
  • Serve as a role model for students.
  • Other programmatic duties and special projects as they arise during the academic year to assist with furthering the mission of the department.

  • Ability to advise student leaders/groups
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook and Teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Adaptability and ability to work in an ever-changing environment
  • Ability to interact well with the diverse Bridgewater State University community.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous involvement with student organizations, orientation programs, or event planning in a college setting
  • Previous experience with an online student organization management platform (CampusGroups, CampusLabs, etc.)
  • Experience in leading, advising, and/or supervising students
  • Enrollment in the Higher Education Counseling Master's Program
