Summary
Teaching assistants (TA) in CSD at Saint Xavier will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities tailored to the course assignment. As a TA, the student will gain practical experience in supporting classroom instruction, facilitating student learning, and assisting with course administration. The emphasis will be placed on developing pedagogical skills, understanding diverse learning needs, and fostering an inclusive educational environment. This is ideal for students aspiring to hold future roles as educators, researchers, or clinical supervisors in academia or educational settings within the field of communication disorders.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Grad Assistant will assist with grading clinical assignments, support with in-class activities on an as needed basis, and hold weekly office hours for undergraduate students. Graded assignments will include soap notes, master plans, lesson plans, and case-study based assignments. Additional tasks may be introduced on an as needed basis. Students with strong clinical skills/writing are encouraged to apply. Grad Assistant will support with organization for screening events (i.e., scheduling appointments, monitoring voicemails, promoting screenings in the community) and supporting with coordination at screening events (i.e., check in, managing student paperwork). Grad Assistant must be available on Friday mornings for screening events (3-4 events per semester). Training will be provided. Must have transportation to distribute event flyers in the community. Must be able to call clients registered for events. Students who are highly organized and a quick learner are encouraged to apply.
