Job Details:

Purpose

The Graduate Assistant for Living-Learning Communities (LLCs) plays a supporting role in advancing the day-to-day success of the LLC program within Residence Life. This position works closely with the Manager for LLCs to strengthen peer leadership, foster meaningful academic and social programming, and ensure LLC initiatives are grounded in data and continuous improvement. The Graduate Assistant also contributes to the visibility and reach of LLCs through event support, training, and communication efforts that engage students and campus partners alike. This position reports to the Manager for Living-Learning Communities and serves as a key partner in building vibrant, connected residential communities.

Responsibilities

  • Support and assist the Manager for LLCs with the coordination, implementation, and day-to-day operations of the Living Learning Communities program, including other duties as assigned.

  • Support the Manager for LLCs with the ongoing guidance and mentorship of the LLC Peer Leaders. Support their leadership development and advise on the creation and execution of academic and social programming within their communities.

  • Support the Manager for LLCs with data collection, analysis, and reporting efforts related to the effectiveness of LLC initiatives.

  • Assist the Manager for LLCs in designing and facilitating programs, activities, and trainings for students and staff.

  • Coordinate with UHD colleagues to develop marketing and recruitment strategies for LLCs. Manage newsletters that include updates, important reminders, and community highlights.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Admitted to a graduate program at the University of Texas at Austin

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate students enrolled for master's and/or Doctoral degree in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy.

  • Graduate students with experience or background in housing and Residence Life.

Salary Range

$17.75 per hour

Working Conditions

  • Driving a UT vehicle is considered a marginal task and employees will be asked to complete the driving requirement

Work Shift

  • 9-month assignment starting mid-August – mid-May with mandatory training that starts mid-July.

  • During the academic year this position is typically 20 hours per week, hours are scheduled between 9:00AM – 5:00PM, Monday – Friday with some evening and prescheduled weekend hours.
