Title Graduate Assistant - International Student and Scholar Services Position Description
The Graduate Assistant (GA) will work 20 hours per week and receive up to 24 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 9 for fall, 9 for spring and 6 for summer.
Responsibilities
- Support daily operations of International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS).
- Plan and host cross-cultural events, programs and workshops.
- Assist with arrivals and departures of students - includes trips to Boston Logan.
- Assist with pre-departure and re-entry events.
- Assist with ISSS publicity such as web and newsletter content management
- Assist with developing program assessment tools
- Create content and manage department social media
- Publicity development/article writing - interview current and past ISSS students to publicize their experiences.
- Maintain alumni database.
- Serve as an international orientation leader and provide leadership and guidance to international orientation leaders.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Multicultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Willingness and ability to work with non-native English speakers.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of basic computer software including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Knowledge and responsible use of social media.
- Strong organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of communication/graphic design skills and applications (such as web development/maintenance, Publisher, InDesign, Photoshop).
- Students in the Student Affairs, Counseling, Educational Leadership, or M.Ed. programs.
- Prior event planning experience.

- Office activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and interaction with computer equipment
- Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Travel across campus if needed.
