Job Summary

The leadership graduate assistant is responsible for implementing and supporting the curriculum and Research & Public Service Priorities of the Georgia College Office of Leadership Programs. The incumbent will support students, clients, affiliates, and partners, providing individual and small-group consulting. The leadership graduate assistant will work collaboratively with the Leadership Programs team to advance the offices mission within the university and Georgia.

Responsibilities

Advising and Consulting The leadership graduate assistant provides individual and small-group leadership-development and training consultations to Georgia College students, as well as to clients, affiliates, and partners. Such activities may include consultations, team-building and group-development programs, and workshops. The incumbent develops individual and small-group learning plans, including actionable personal leadership-development plans, as well as consultation scripts, and bespoke training curricula. They conduct assessments, interpret and evaluate results, and present their interpretations and findings. They customize learning content and implementation to meet stakeholder needs and adjust their approach to their audience as appropriate.

Program Support The leadership graduate assistant maintains responsibility for several ongoing, regularly recurring internal processes, as well as for projects and activities administered by the Office of Leadership Programs. They should possess a demonstrated ability to work independently and solve problems within the scope of their duties and should have an ability to manage confidential information appropriately.

Collaboration The leadership graduate assistant works collaboratively with each member of the Office of Leadership Programs. They should demonstrate capacity for recognizing interdependencies in cross-functional projects; ability to work collaboratively and productively with others to achieve results; ability to scope out length and difficulty of tasks and projects accurately; ability to set objectives and goals; ability to break down work into process steps; and ability to measure performance against goals and to evaluate results.

Instruction and Content Delivery The leadership graduate assistant develops original content for delivery through workshops, programs, retreats, and conferences and provides innovative, interactive, and dynamic means of delivery, facilitation, and engagement.

Additional Duties The leadership graduate assistant performs other duties as assigned by the director or assistant director of leadership programs. They participate in staff, committee, and other university meetings as appropriate and at the request of the director or assistant director.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements Earned bachelors degree and acceptance to or currently enrolled in a GCSU graduate program.

Other Required Qualifications Be approved for regular admission to a graduate degree program at Georgia College. Maintain academic good standing. If a students grade point average falls below a 3.00 (academic warning), the student will have next semester or summer term to improve and return to good standing before termination of the assistantship. Should a student fail to return to good standing after the next semester or summer term, or should a student receive academic exclusion and be dismissed from the degree program, the assistantship will be terminated at once. Course loads for graduate assistants must be at least six graduate semester hours.

ABILITIES Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment, to take initiative, and to follow through with all responsibilities and assigned tasks. Ability to work with a diverse constituency.
