General Description: The duties of the Graduate Assistant Men''s Lacrosse and Recruiting Coordinator is seeking a qualified applicant to serve as a graduate assistant to help assist the Owls NAIA Men''s Lacrosse program. The position is responsible for providing support to program management of game day operations of all campus athletic activities, competitions, and events. Responsible for aiding with the management of all student employment related to these programs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Administer your sport in total compliance with William Woods NAIA, HAAC regulations and guidelines. Monitor and stay within the parameters of the Men's Lacrosse budget. All purchases need to be approved by the head coach. Assist with recruiting and retaining student-athletes. Attend Athletic Department meetings. Assist with coordination of travel plans with the Head Coach Be a positive role model for athletes and monitor discipline procedures within your sport. Encourage/monitor attendance and academic performance as directed by the head coach. Assist with annual inventory. Conduct yourself in a professional manner and always display good sportsmanship. Fulfill all obligations, as established by your program, for the NAIA Champions of Character initiative. Be loyal and supportive of the Staff, Faculty and Administration. Always follow the Chain of Command. Cooperate and communicate with the Training Staff Assist with the supervision of other athletic events as needed by the administration. All Other duties as assigned. Position Requirements: Education: Bachelor's degree required Experience: Background in the sport of Men's Lacrosse required Abilities: Demonstrates talent in building cohesive teams. Ability to recruit/be open to learning to recruiting prospective students. Independent decision making and ability to exercise good judgement. Good written and oral communication skills. Ability to work independently and a team member to complete assigned tasks and meeting deadlines. Organizational skills, time management, relationship building and communication skills essential. Willing to work long hours and weekends. Typical Physical Demands: · Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 30-50 lbs. · Ability to climb several flights of stairs several times each day and move freely on campus. · Ability to crouch, kneel, bend, or stand for extended periods of time. · Ability to spend time outdoors and in inclement weather. · Ability to speak and read English fluently. · Ability to hear. · Ability to use a computer keyboard and phone. · Effective mobility skills required to move about freely and quickly in the office and on campus. · Must possess a valid driver''s license and adhere to the WWU vehicle policy. Work Schedule: Graduate Assistants work an average of 25 hours per week; more during season and less during the off season. The Graduate Assistant is not required to work during the summer months but may continue to take classes. This is a 10-month position beginning August and ending in May. Includes full tuition in a master's program, housing on campus (if available), and board when the campus dining facility is open. Graduate Assistants are required to hold their GA position for a two-year timeframe. Specifically, two classes in the fall semester, two classes in the spring semester, and one class in the summer semester is covered by the tuition benefit.
