POSITION SUMMARY

The Graduate Assistant for Men's Ministry serves within the Office of Student Life to advance the spiritual formation of male students at Hannibal-LaGrange University. This role focuses on cultivating Christ-centered discipleship, strengthening engagement in campus worship, and mobilizing students for evangelism and missions.

The GA will work closely with the Dean of Students & Campus Chaplain to foster a culture of biblical discipleship aligned with the Baptist Faith & Message and the mission of HLGU.

Employee must possess a vibrant, personal Christian faith including a clear testimony of Christian conversion and be actively involved in an evangelical, preferably Southern Baptist, church.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Men's Discipleship

  • Develop and lead intentional discipleship initiatives for male students (small groups, one-on-one mentoring, accountability structures)

  • Recruit, train, and support student leaders to disciple their peers

  • Promote spiritual habits such as Scripture reading, prayer, and gospel-centered community

  • Assist in identifying and shepherding emerging male student leaders

  • Campus Worship

  • Support planning and execution of weekly chapel services with a focus on meaningful engagement of male students

  • Collaborate with worship teams and student leaders to encourage participation from male students in worship leadership

  • Assist in developing worship environments that prioritize congregational participation and theological soundness

  • Missions & Evangelism

  • Help organize and promote campus evangelism initiatives

  • Equip male students to share the gospel faithfully and confidently

  • Assist with local church partnerships, service projects, and mission opportunities

  • Support the development and coordination of student mission teams and outreach efforts

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Participate in Student Life team meetings and campus ministry planning
  • Assist with campus-wide spiritual formation events (revivals, retreats, special services)
  • Provide general support for Student Life initiatives as assigned
  • Maintain regular office hours and consistent availability to students

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Admission to an HLGU graduate program (required)
  • Strong commitment to Jesus Christ and agreement with the Baptist Faith & Message
  • Demonstrated involvement in local church ministry
  • Experience in discipleship, student leadership, or ministry preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills

EXPECTATIONS

  • Maintain active membership and involvement in a local Southern Baptist or like-minded church
  • Model Christian character, integrity, and spiritual maturity
  • Be relationally engaged and visible among students, especially male students
  • Uphold and support the mission and values of Hannibal-LaGrange University

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • 2-3 year commitment required, depending on academic program chosen
  • Tuition Concession for 6 credit hours of graduate course work per semester (fall, spring, summer)
  • $500 monthly stipend + free on-campus housing (if available)
  • Practical ministry experience in a collegiate context
