Title Graduate Assistant - MSW Program Position Description
The Graduate Assistant (GA) will work 20 hours per week and receive up to 24 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 9 for fall, 9 for spring and 6 for summer.
Description of Duties
The MSW program graduate assistant has an exciting opportunity to support the needs of the MSW program and the school of social work with:
- Support to the Houston Bruns Speaker Series
- Communications related to SSW activities
- Organization skills and ability to work on multiple projects at once
- Research and surveys on internal programs or speaker series feedback
- Assistance with preparation of materials for faculty and staff, as needed
- Work with data, statistics, and continuing education certificates
- Develop a research project related to the School of Social Work for the student fair
Outcomes
- How to form a solid evaluation plan to gain feedback on events.
- How to connect and tend to the details required for external events.
- How to take leadership and responsibility for outcomes.
- How to think creatively about our goals and the plan for achieving those within the scope of the GA's work.
- How to create research questions designed to help facilitate better program outcomes.
- How to understand basic research methods.
- Creating evaluations using software such as MicroSoft Forms and/or Qualtrics.

- Opportunity to learn or use webinar and Zoom meeting skills, interact with others in the social work community, and use strong interpersonal skills to assist with trouble shooting and problem solving.
- Reports to the Coordinator and DCGE Chair of the MSW program.

- There are no specific physical demands for this position other than possible light lifting and use of computer for producing Word documents.
