    Job Description

    The Graduate Student Assistant plays a vital operational and spiritual support role within Arizona Christian University's Testing Center. In addition to supervising exam administration and maintaining a secure, confidential testing environment, this role actively liaises with faculty to collect assessment materials, manages scheduling and seat utilization, and tracks operational data for reporting. As a representative of Arizona Christian University, the Graduate Student Assistant models an active Christian faith, meaningfully encouraging and supporting students, faculty, and staff from a biblical worldview.

    This role also requires a comprehensive understanding of and commitment to the unique Christian mission and vision of ACU to Transform Culture with Truth, and the ability to advance that mission and vision through the performance of its duties, including person-to-person mentorship and discipleship.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Faculty Coordination & Assessment Management
    • Faculty Liaison: Proactively communicate with faculty members utilizing the testing center to coordinate student exam logistics, clarify testing instructions, and establish clear delivery guidelines.

    • Assessment Intake & File Management: Collect, log, and securely organize physical and digital testing materials, password keys, and specific accommodation instructions prior to scheduled exams.

    • Test Security & Integrity: Protect the security and strict confidentiality of all testing materials, faculty passwords, examinee records, and staff communications in full compliance with FERPA regulations.

    1. Proctoring & Room Utilization Management
    • Student Reception & Check-In: Greet examines warmly, verifies student identities, and manages student check-in and appointment scheduling efficiently.

    • Test Administration: Directly proctor paper-based and digital exams, ensuring strict adherence to academic integrity policies and accommodation standards while remaining direct, kind, and supportive in all student interactions.

    • Space & Equipment Coordination: Oversee room usage and seat scheduling to maximize capacity; maintain an orderly testing environment and immediately report any facility, space, or technical/equipment issues to the supervisor.

    1. Data Collection & Reporting
    • Usage Tracking: Maintain complete and accurate logs of student check-ins, completed exams, room usage, and accommodation delivery.

    • Operational Reporting: Regularly compile and report general student usage metrics and testing center activity data to the center supervisor.

    1. Spiritual Leadership & University Commitment
    • Biblical Encouragement: Support and encourage students, faculty, and staff from a biblical worldview perspective, utilizing relevant and applicable references from scripture and orthodox Christian writings.

    • Prayer & Fellowship: Demonstrate comfort and familiarity with praying with and for others, including students, faculty, and fellow university staff.

    • Institutional Alignment: Demonstrate enthusiastic support for the Christian Mission and Core Commitments of the University, including signing the University's Statement of Faith and Core Commitments annually.

    1. Administrative & Compliance Duties
    • Shift Reliability: Attend all assigned shifts punctually and maintain regular communication with the testing center supervisor.

    • Professional Integrity: Conduct oneself with the utmost integrity and professionalism at all times; complete additional duties and tasks as directed with excellence.

    • Regulatory Compliance: Complete required FERPA online training and submit the certificate of completion to the supervisor prior to the start date; strictly safeguard all student grades and academic progress.

    • Timekeeping: Accurately log and submit all hours worked into UKG for compensation processing.

    • Completing other duties and tasks with utmost integrity and professionalism, as directed, and not necessarily mentioned in this description, may be asked on a volunteer basis.

    • Commitment to the University's faith statement, mission, and purposes; and an active Christian faith.

    • Comfort and familiarity with the practice of praying with and for others, including students, faculty, and fellow University staff.

    • The ability to meaningfully support and encourage students, faculty, and staff from a biblical worldview perspective, using relevant and applicable references from the Old and New Testaments and orthodox Christian writings.

    • Demonstrated alignment with and enthusiastic support for the Christian Mission and Core Commitments of the University, including signing the University's Statement of Faith and Core Commitments annually.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Faith Commitment: A personal relationship with Jesus Christ, an active Christian faith, and alignment with ACU's Statement of Faith and Core Values.

    • Enrollment & Standing: Currently enrolled as a student at ACU in good academic standing (Satisfactory Academic Progress - SAP).

    • Financial Aid Requirement: Must complete a current FAFSA for consideration.

    • Interpersonal & Organizational Skills: Strong interpersonal communication skills with a direct, kind, and professional demeanor; high attention to detail in managing test security and data logging.

    • Work Availability: Available to work up to 15-20 hours per week.

    Fair Labor Standards Act

    This position is considered to be part-time, non-exempt from overtime pay provisions as provided by the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and any applicable state laws.
