Title Graduate Assistant - Testing Services Position Description
The Graduate Assistant (GA) will work 20 hours per week and receive up to 24 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 9 for fall, 9 for spring and 6 for summer.
Department Summary
The Academic Achievement Center (AAC) is the largest hub of student academic support services at Bridgewater State University. The AAC houses four departments: Academic Advising, Learning Assistance, Student Accessibility Services, and Testing Services. Testing Services provides test candidates with undergraduate, graduate, professional licensure, placement, and remotely proctored exams year-round. We dedicate each day to student success and retention, as well as equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Core Duties
In this role you will have the opportunity to:
- Interact with students and test-takers and contribute to the cultivation of a welcoming, customer service oriented, and equity-minded testing center
- Assist with the scheduling and administration of all exams
- Respond to all testing inquiries including phone calls and emails
- Monitor test candidates/testing rooms during examinations, and document and report test irregularities and cheating incidents
- Become a certified proctor of exams, including MTEL licensure exam for teachers, the GRE exam for graduate students, the CLEP exam for college credit, placement tests, and more
- Collaborate with departments across the Academic Achievement Center such as the Disability Resources Office and Tutoring Central. They would also have the opportunity to learn administrative aspects of working in Academic Affairs and higher education, and gain familiarity with the curriculum of the undergraduate programs
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of strategic goals for promoting student success
- Assist in administering large group placements to new incoming first-year students, gain insight into the unique needs of the first-year student population, and gain experience in supervising and leading larger groups of students.

- Bachelor's Degree
- Matriculation into a Graduate Degree Program at Bridgewater State University.
- Experience with and an ongoing commitment to working effectively with and across diverse communities, including specific experience with one or more of the following identities/communities: People with both visible and invisible disabilities, people of color, minoritized groups and immigrant populations, people of various gender and sexual identities and expressions, first-generation students, people from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Energy, enthusiasm, self-direction, patience, and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse student/faculty/staff/community population.
- Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information.
- Ability to observe and monitor test-takers during testing, both in-person and via video/digital monitoring system
