Summary/Objective

The Graduate & Worldwide Admissions Counselor recruits and enrolls students across undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, certificate, accelerated degree, and online programs in education, business, and science and technology. The role provides a positive, student-centered admissions experience through timely communication and ongoing support, guiding students through the process from inquiry to enrollment and helping the University meet enrollment goals.

Essential Job Duties

Recruitment & Enrollment Management

  • Serves as a member of the Enrollment Management Team by managing an assigned recruitment territory or stage of the admissions funnel to achieve the University's enrollment goals.
  • Implements recruitment strategies outlined in the admissions plan, including visits to businesses, K-
  • 12 schools, churches, college fairs, receptions, recruitment events, and professional conferences.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with students, school officials, church leaders, alumni organizations, and business/community partners to support student recruitment.

Student Engagement & Advising

  • Provides personalized follow-up to prospective students through phone calls, email, text messaging, letters, social media, and scheduled appointments.
  • Advises prospective students and their families regarding admission requirements, transfer guidelines, financial aid, scholarships, academic programs, and other University resources.

Marketing & Communications

  • Collaborates with the Marketing team to develop recruitment materials, digital content, program webpages, and enrollment-focused messaging that supports recruitment and enrollment goals.
  • Submits and manages marketing requests through the University's project management system,

coordinating updates, revisions, and approvals to ensure timely and accurate communications.

  • Develops, coordinates, and presents engaging webinars and virtual recruitment events for prospective students, effectively communicating program information and guiding attendees through the admissions process.

Collaboration & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Collaborates closely with academic departments to remain informed of program updates, curriculum changes, and admissions requirements.
  • Initiates, plans, and executes special projects that support the goals and objectives of the Office of Admissions and Enrollment Management.
  • Completes routine reports related to recruitment activities, enrollment projections, travel, scheduling, special programs, and professional development.
  • Models and supports the University's Christian mission by demonstrating a Christ-centered lifestyle and contributing positively to the SBU community.

Position Requirements

Demonstrated success in recruiting and admissions for competitive programs, preferably in graduate admissions or adult studies. Demonstrated success in the use of vendor supplied admissions and CRM preferably in Slate. Ability and willingness to travel locally, to represent the college at recruitment events and conferences.

Required

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams; verbal and written communication, analytical, interpersonal, leadership, managerial, project management, and conflict resolution

Preferred

  • 2 years in admissions, sales, or marketing
  • Experience using Slate CRM and Basecamp

Work Environment

  • Minimum of three-four days per week in the office, with the possibility of one or two remote workdays based on departmental needs
  • Occasionally travel to college or jobs fairs, hotels, conferences, etc.
  • General office environment with some noise

Physical Abilities

  • Occasionally move about the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Frequently communicates with students who have inquiries about their tuition bill or financial aid package. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machine and computer printer.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and get in and out of the vehicle frequently during each shift.
