King County's Facility Management Division is seeking a graduate intern to support digitizing its collection of architectural drawings and related records. This collection is essential to the division's work and the intern will work closely with the division's Information and Records Manager to improve its accessibility and usability.The intern will work on all stages of the digitization project, from sorting physical records to accurately entering metadata. They will also help establish and document processes to maintain the digital and physical collections.ResponsibilitiesIdentify architectural drawings and construction project records and work with historical documentsGain hands‑on experience with content management software and other specialized computer applicationsDevelop project management skills and build relationships with project stakeholdersLearn records management principles, policy, and law in local governmentPrepare physical records to be sent for scanningOrganize and file physical recordsTrack and update records inventoryIngest digital files into databases or content management systems and enter metadataPerform quality assurance checks on digitized recordsTrack and report on project progressAssist with documenting records processesAssist with drafting guides and policies for accessing and using recordsOther records duties as assignedQualificationsComputer skills, familiarity with Microsoft suite including Word and Excel, and the ability to learn new applications and technologyDetail‑oriented and able to perform data entry with high accuracyAbility to understand and interpret technical informationCurrently enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program, and will remain enrolled throughout the duration of the internshipInterest in architectural drawings and/or records and information managementExperience managing projects independently or in small teams and knowledge of project management principlesPursuing a degree in Library and Information Sciences, Architecture, Urban Planning, History, or other relevant degree programOther Position InformationThis internship is expected to begin in September 2026 and run through August 2027We expect this position to work a 20‑hour work week. Additional hours may be available.
