Overview:

A Graduate Research Assistant in Crop, Soil, and Environmental Sciences supports faculty-led research focused on improving agricultural productivity, soil health, and environmental sustainability. This role supports research in sustainable crop and soil management through data collection and analysis, and experimental activities.

 

Primary responsibility of a Graduate Research Assistant is to engage in original, professional-level research under a faculty member’s supervision in the course of obtaining a graduate degree.

 

This is a pooled posting. Applicants will be considered as positions become available. Applications may be at the "Under Review" status for an extended period of time.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research activities aligned with the graduate degree program
  • Design and conduct field, greenhouse, and laboratory experiments
  • Assist with ongoing and related research projects as assigned
  • Collect, manage, organize, and analyze agronomic and environmental data using appropriate quantitative and analytical methods
  • Operate and assist with scientific instruments, including soil sensors, analytical laboratory equipment, and GIS‑based tools
  • Prepare written reports, summaries, and documentation of research findings
  • Contribute to the preparation of outreach materials and assist with field days and demonstrations
  • Help translate scientific findings into practical recommendations for research and outreach purposes
  • Maintain laboratory spaces, equipment, and supplies to support research activities
  • Work independently and collaboratively with faculty, staff, and multidisciplinary research teams
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or related field
  • Currently enrolled as an Auburn University graduate student
