If you love the idea of turning chaos into schedules, schedules into results, and results into happy customers-you might be our kind of person.
At Out of the Woods in Layton, Utah, we don't just build custom cabinetry and stone countertops-we build things that people actually live with and love. That means our Granite Operations Manager plays a huge role in making sure everything runs smoothly from fabrication to final install.
This is a role for someone who can keep the shop moving, the installs on track, and the team aligned-all while keeping quality high and rework low.
Starting Pay: $75,000
Benefits available:
- Medical, Dental, Vision
- Simple IRA
- Voluntary Life Insurance
- Up to 6 PTO days per year and 6 paid holidays
What You'll Be Running
You'll be the person making sure everything in the granite operation flows-on time, on budget, and on point.
- Own the granite production schedule and installation timelines
- Lead and support the installation team in the field and shop
- Keep jobs moving efficiently while reducing rework and "we'll fix it later" moments
- Ensure shop processes are followed-and improved (because "that's how we've always done it" is not a strategy)
- Help maintain a clean, efficient shop flow from slab to install
- Work closely with other departments to keep communication tight and projects aligned
- Drive productivity, quality, and profitability without sacrificing craftsmanship
- Step in to solve problems quickly when things don't go as planned (because they won't always go as planned)
- Support hiring, performance feedback, and team development
- Help oversee equipment, tools, and shop organization like they're your own
What You Bring to the Table
You've been around the granite, fabrication, or construction world long enough to know: details matter and timing is everything.
- 10+ years of granite or stone industry experience (with 5+ years in production or manufacturing leadership)
- Strong understanding of shop operations and installation workflows
- Proven ability to manage schedules, people, and moving parts without losing your mind
- Comfortable leading teams and holding standards without micromanaging
- Solid communication skills-you can talk to installers, office staff, and leadership without translation needed
- Problem-solver mindset (you don't panic-you fix)
- Organized, detail-oriented, and not afraid of spreadsheets or checklists
- Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint-nothing fancy, just functional)
What It's Like Here
This is not a quiet desk job.
- You'll split time between the office, shop floor, and job sites
- You'll be moving, walking, checking, coordinating, and troubleshooting daily
- You'll be around machinery, dust, noise, and real production work
- You'll wear PPE when needed and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs (teamwork helps)
- You'll have days where everything goes right-and days where you earn your paycheck
Why This Role Matters
Because when this role is done well:
- Jobs get installed on time
- Customers stay happy
- The shop runs smoother
- And the business actually grows instead of just "staying busy"
This isn't just operations. It's ownership of how the product gets from idea → shop → home.
If you're the kind of leader who walks into a shop, spots inefficiencies in five minutes, and quietly starts fixing them... we should talk.
