About the Opportunity
A mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking an experienced Grant Accountant to join its growing finance team. Reporting to the Grant Accounting Manager, this individual will support the financial management of federal, state, and local grants by overseeing reporting, invoicing, compliance, reimbursement activities, and audit support.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare and submit accurate and timely grant invoices and financial reports to funding agencies.
Perform monthly financial analysis and monitor grant budgets for variances and compliance.
Reconcile budget-to-actual expenditures and provide explanations for significant variances.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
Maintain organized grant documentation, billing records, and reporting schedules.
Support grant-related audits by preparing schedules and providing supporting documentation.
Assist auditors during fieldwork and financial reviews.
Prepare budget modifications, amendments, close-out packages, and reimbursement schedules.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, organizational policies, and funding source requirements.
Collaborate with finance and program teams to support effective grant management.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of nonprofit grant accounting experience.
Experience managing federal, state, and local government grants.
Experience preparing grant-funded invoices and financial reports.
Strong understanding of grant compliance and post-award accounting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with advanced spreadsheet skills.
Experience with nonprofit accounting and fund accounting systems.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and results-driven.
Preferred Experience
Experience with grants funded by government agencies and social service programs.
Knowledge of federal and state grant reimbursement systems.
Experience with nonprofit financial reporting and audit support.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $74,000 - $84,000
