About the Opportunity
A well-established nonprofit organization is seeking a detail-oriented Grant Accountant to join its growing finance team. Reporting to the Grant Accounting Manager, this individual will play a key role in managing post-award grant accounting activities, ensuring compliance with funding requirements, supporting audits, and preparing financial reporting for government-funded programs.

Responsibilities
Prepare and submit timely and accurate grant invoices and financial reports.
Monitor grant budgets and perform monthly financial analysis to identify and resolve variances.
Reconcile budget-to-actual expenditures and prepare explanations for significant variances.
Support monthly and year-end close processes.
Maintain organized grant documentation, billing records, and reporting schedules.
Assist with grant-related audits and provide supporting documentation to auditors.
Prepare grant budgets, modifications, amendments, and close-out packages.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and grant funding requirements.
Collaborate with program and finance teams to support effective grant management.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of nonprofit grant accounting experience.
Experience managing government-funded grants, including financial reporting and invoicing.
Strong understanding of grant compliance and post-award accounting.
Experience supporting audits and preparing audit schedules.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with government-funded social service programs.
Experience with grant accounting and fund accounting software.
Knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards and best practices.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $67,000 - $72,000
