Grant Accountant

Location: Fort Worth, Texas | Onsite

COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE

Pay Range: $31/hr

  • Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM (flexible within schedule)
  • Temporary-to-Hire
  • Business Casual dress code
  • Mandatory overtime during audit periods and grant reporting deadlines

ROLE IMPACT

The Grant Accountant is responsible for ensuring financial compliance, accountability, and accuracy for grant-funded programs. This role manages grant budgets, monitors expenditures, prepares financial reports, and ensures adherence to federal, state, local, and private funding requirements. Success in this position is measured by accurate grant reporting, audit readiness, compliance with funding regulations, and effective stewardship of grant resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage financial activities for assigned grants, including budget tracking, expenditure monitoring, and fund reconciliation
  • Prepare and submit required grant financial reports in accordance with funding agency deadlines and requirements
  • Review grant expenditures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, grant agreements, and organizational policies
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation related to grant activity
  • Monitor grant budgets and identify potential variances, overspending risks, or funding concerns
  • Collaborate with program managers and department leaders to provide financial guidance on grant-funded initiatives
  • Support internal and external audits, including preparation of grant-related schedules and supporting documentation
  • Assist with grant closeout activities, financial reporting, and documentation retention requirements
  • Analyze financial data and recommend process improvements to strengthen grant compliance and reporting accuracy

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • Five (5) years of accounting, grant accounting, nonprofit accounting, or government accounting experience
  • Experience managing grant budgets, financial reporting, and compliance requirements
  • Valid Texas Driver's License

Core Tools & Systems

  • Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel proficiency required)
  • Accounting and financial reporting systems
  • ERP systems (Enterprise Resource Planning platforms)
  • General ledger, reconciliation, and grant management software

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with federal, state, and local grant funding requirements (Uniform Guidance/2 CFR Part 200 preferred)
  • Government, nonprofit, or public-sector accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of grant compliance, cost allocation, and audit requirements
  • Experience preparing Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) and supporting Single Audits
  • Advanced technical aptitude with accounting and grant management systems
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and documentation skills
