Position Grant WriterPosition Department MarketingDescription Responsible to the President & CEO and Chief Marketing Administrator CMA for researching preparing writing and facilitating grant work appropriate to Guidance Colleges mission and advancement priorities.Duties and responsibilitiesImplement the whole granting writing process from research to submission of proposals and submit 3-5 fully completed proposals per quarter.Develop grant writing standards institutional profile applicable to Guidance College that is standards distinguishing GC as the emerging Islamic higher education institution across the US and internationally.Execute a grant writing collection development policy that implements evaluates maintains and weeds grant writing proposals with the Institutional Effectiveness Administrator.Promote and enforce the use of strategies in consultation with the President & CEO and Chief Marketing Administrator.Maintain a close working relationship with the Chief Financial Services Administrator.Conduct grant research suitability using a two-fold methodology1 suitability research using GC profile with applicable grants for GC-specific funding needs from a grantor source and2 research & write a mock-up profile using the GC Profile Index.Suitability volume ranges from 30 to 50 fits 1 and written profile 2 range 20 and up.Write and submit one new proposal every quarter of the fiscal year.Present updates to CQAI and keep members informed about upcoming deadlines and deliverables thereby keeping the whole institution focused within annual planning cycle priorities.Respond immediately and readily to interested grantors for updating and looping in all relevant GC personnel in the loop.Provide regular reports to the President & CEO for keeping the Trustees knowledgeable and engaged in Guidance Colleges fund-raising activities.Respond to institutional email within two business days and promptly for proposal work.Perform duties and responsibilities as a multi-tasker with the strong ability to work under on-demand timing pressures.Participate in one professional development opportunity annually and write a report.Knowledge and abilitiesThe Grant Writer & Facilitator must have demonstratedGrant writing experience and assessment skills for improving Guidance Colleges grant work.Understanding higher education non-profit operations and financials.Persistence in closing the whole grant writing loop of activities including long term outcomes with the grantors financial generosity.Communication evidencing proficient writing skill oral conciseness and empathetic listening skills for both sides of the organizational loop.Ability to use technology to enhance the overall effectiveness of GCs advancement priorities.Research skills for culling pertinent information applicable to different grant proposals.Ability to project timelines and move the process forward toward realizable deadlines.Character to pace self-imposed work goals and apply proactive-initiative-taking solutions for challenges to completing the grant writing loop.Commitment to ensure confidentiality and use advisable discretion.Level of strong people service skills.Supervision Given and Received Determines own methods of performing assigned grant writing work where definitive advancement priorities have been set and coordinate final presentation work leading to a submitted proposal. Attentiveness direction given for writing proposals in Islamic cultural and religious contexts within Islamic communities and to entities favorable to higher education.Accountability and Evaluation Reports to President & CEO and CMA. Participates in an annual personnel review. Uses successes and denials of proposals to grow GCs grant writing work.Preferred Position Qualifications Masters degree in a business-related field and minimally two-three years work experience in the whole grant writing process with successful proposals to an organization.Preferred religious qualificationsGuidance Colleges mission firmly states its roots and growth in Islamic Knowledge as a religious higher education studies college. A preferred candidate should demonstrate a genuine commitment to the Islamic faith and follow the path of Ahl Al-Sunnah denomination practice personal and moral integrity privately and publicly be in accord with the mission vision strategic initiatives and educational philosophy of the College. A member of and active in a local masjid.
